Name: Sam Roth
Position: Peer Advisor
Hometown: Sudbury, Massachusetts
Major and class year (if student): History, 2019
How long you’ve been with the department: Since the start of the 2018 Fall Semester
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done?
I organized a group of friends and went skydiving after high school graduation!
If you could witness any historical event, which one would you want to see and why?
I would want to see Abraham Lincoln’s Farewell Address of 1865. This speech was made just four days before his assassination and holds an immense amount of insight into America’s Post-Civil War condition. Lincoln’s stage presence is something that I would very much like to witness as well.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I like to look for new music, explore local restaurants, and train for Track & Field.
Where would you go on your dream vacation?
I have always wanted to spend time in Alberta, Canada to watch the Northern Lights.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learned in the last five years?
The most important thing I’ve learned is that most historical events are always more relevant and impactful than they appear. Even a simple conversation with your grandparents can help you realize how many major historical events took place in the last century alone.
